Frequently asked questions

Do I need to sign in or create an account?

No. BarTranslate has no accounts, no sign-in and no server of its own. Translations go straight to Google Translate; everything else runs on your device.

How do I open BarTranslate?

Use the hotkey you configured in Settings, or click the menu bar icon directly.

Can I change the hotkey?

Yes. Open Settings and set your preferred key combination.

Where are my settings stored?

On your device only. See the privacy policy for details.

Does BarTranslate work offline?

No, translations require a connection to Google Translate. The app itself makes no other network requests.
